Dev Log #2 – The First Interaction

Today was a small step technically, but a big step emotionally: Song of Dragons is now playable.

Over the past couple of days I’ve been getting comfortable with Unity and starting to build the earliest gameplay systems. The player can now move around a small test version of Tylly’s Clearing, the camera follows smoothly, and the environment can react when the player approaches certain objects.

The first interactive object in the game is a wind chime hanging outside the cabin. When the player walks close to it, the chime rings and a short message appears on screen:

A strange note lingers in the air.

It’s a simple moment, but it captures something important about the direction of the game. In this world, sound isn’t just background atmosphere — it’s something that interacts with the environment.

From a development perspective, today was about learning the foundations: player movement, interaction triggers, sound playback, and a simple message system. None of the visuals or sounds are final yet, but the underlying systems are beginning to come together.

Right now the focus is still on experimentation and building the core mechanics before worrying about polished art or music.

More soon.
